2016 Hike La Palma, Barranco del Agua, Tilos, Rother nr 14

1030 hrs 27th September drove to the Tilos Information Centre and did the short but interesting hike up the Barranco del Agua - described in Rother's Walking Guide hike nr 14.
Below map is from the ViewRanger App

the Tilos Information Centre

The very pleasant English speaking warden gave us a lot interesting information about the area and showed us a short film in English about the park

There is a cafe below the centre but it was closed on this day

The short hike starts just down the road from the centre

Start of the hike up the Barranco del Agua

The hike follows the Levada

the Levada passes through several tunnels cut into the rock

Cascada de Los Tilos

The trail goes over this Levada bridge to the other side of the Barranco under the spray from the waterfall. As we did not feel like having a shower, we retraced our steps from here!

Back at the picnic area by the cafe this crow became interesred in our sandwiches

On the drive back we stopped at the this Astronomical Mirador Salto del Enamorado, close to San Bartolome. Jeannette points the way to Polaris

On the road we were behind these tree carrying truck for a while

We kept our distance especially when it went through tunnels!

In the evening we went with Tom & Annie to restuarant Enriclai - a very special restuarant in Santa Cruz.

The delightful lady Carmen warmly welcomes her guests and ensures that one has an evening to remember. The superb meals are cooked by her son. There is no written menu - Carmen just tells you what the choices are for that day - usually a fish, meat and vegitarian meal.

The restuarant is very small - only 4 tables - so one should book well in advance.
Address is Enriclai, Calle Doctor Santos Abreu nr 2 - we will certainly go again when we visit La Palma next time.
